Wedding season has begun!

The weekend had us travelling over the Rimutaka’s to Tarureka Estate in Featherston to play our first gig for Wedding season!

We were greeted by great weather, warmth and calm. A relaxing escape from the elements in Wellington.

Here is a picture of the guest house at Tarureka. This will also give you an idea of how much better the weather in Wairarapa is compared to Wellington. It is fairly obvious now why so many weddings are celebrated over the hill.

Setup was underneath the main conference room, which is a 150 year old Rimu homestead. It still has the colonial character that you would expect from these early buildings and many of the original fixtures are still in tact. A big old tennis court with well manicured gardens is on the other side of this building. This is where the wedding parties tie the knot.

Tarureka Estate really is an old antique building that is full of character.

During our set we were joined by the Uncle of the Groom who as it turned out, had an amazing voice. He put on a jaw dropping performance of ‘The Midnight Special’, and ‘No Woman, No Cry’. It was very humbling.

Needless to say the acoustics were great and the wedding guests partied late in to the night.

Big congratulations to Julia and Hayds for tying the knot and thanks team from us, we had a blast!
